Buena Vista has Major Sewage Spill

Environmental impact deemed low; spill caused by power failure
A major wastewater spill occurred at the Buena Vista Wastewater Treatment Plant (located behind the former school that now houses Marion County government offices) earlier this year, according to Cody Kelly, Chief Operations Officer of Environmental Instrumentation & Calibration.
According to a report submitted to The Journal by Kelly (see the Public Notice on Page 8 for the actual report), the exact date and time of the spill are not known, but it was reported to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) on March 8, 2023 and to the Health Department on March 10, 2023. The spill duration and amount of spillage are both listed as unknown.
