The Journal was honored to receive eight awards at the Georgia Press Association's Annual Banquet, held Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel.
The biggest award was General Excellence (Best Overall), in which The Journal received the Second Place Plaque for Division E, which includes all newspapers with a circulation of 2,000 or less and is the largest division in the state. The Journal was edged out for first place by The Tifton Gazette, while The Jefferson Reporter/News & Farmerplaced third.
All awards presented at the recent banquet were for stories and photos published during 2022.
