Retired Army First Sergeant Dominique Williamson feels peaceful - you might say "tranquil" - these days when he looks over the property he purchased in rural Marion County, which he has named Tranquility Gardens. That peaceful feeling is a big change from the latter part of his military career.
Bureaucratic red tape had him seeming red and in extreme frustration when he was initially told he wouldn't be able to retire after suffering life-threatening injuries and being medically evacuated when serving in Afghanistan. He had 19-plus years.
Luckily, he soon learned of a program that allowed him to transition into the Warrior Transition Battalion to finish out his service. He was grateful for the opportunity, but still disappointed that he wasn't offered the option...
