Only around 0.05% of Americans have run a marathon. For Cusseta resident Jessica Coleman joining that elite club just wasn't enough. Having never run a marathon, she recently completed an ultra-marathon.
Coleman crossed the finish line of the Flatlanders Canyon Crash 50K (30 miles) on February 24. Not only was the distance a challenge, but the event was held at Providence Canyon, with the course going down into and back out of the canyon six times, so it was very difficult terrain. She placed 5th among females with a time of 7:33:15, but for her it was more about challenging herself than competing with the other runners.
