Persistent problems with the Postal Service are presenting huge challenges to local businesses and governments, as they see their cash flow slow to a trickle while the wave of inflation continues to raise their expenses.
"We trust our customers so we don't usually get money from them up front," said Robert Philmon of Murray Landscaping. "We know they're mailing in payments but we're not receiving them, and while we're not getting money in, we still have to pay thousands of dollars for supplies. When you don't get money coming in, it affects the bottom line."
He noted that so far they haven't had any issues with making payroll and they've been able to keep the business rolling, but it is getting very worrisome.
