Schley County High made an early statement in the race for the region title last Friday by traveling to Cusseta and coming out on top of the Chattahoochee County High Panthers 42-16.
"Chattahoochee County has a good team and a lot of good athletes, but we played well in every aspect of the game, except extra points (holder Connor Rhyne was injured - but is expected back soon). It was nice to get back in the win column. We told the kids going into the game everybody was 0-0 in the region, so it was time to reset and start over. Our guys came out and played well."
It was a close game early (8-0 after the 1st quarter; 16-0 at halftime) but the Wildcats pulled away after halftime.
