Georgia is an "Open Carry" state for firearms, meaning state residents who are qualified to receive a permit must be issued one. The permit grants the holder the right to both open and concealed carry within the state. However, there are still some restrictions.
For example, even with a permit, it is illegal to carry guns on school premises, buses, and during school events.
One person was recently arrested for violating that restriction at Marion County High School.
The Marion County School System released the following statement on Friday, September 13.
"With the current climate surrounding school safety, we felt the need to remind the public that no firearm is allowed on a school campus. While we do understand that Georgia has open carry laws...
