The Georgia Run for the Fallen will be passing through our area this weekend. This 164-mile, three-day tribute run honors all of the Georgians who have died while serving in the military since the "War on Terror" era began.
There will be a special ceremony in Ellaville's Blue Star Memorial Park across from the Schley County Courthouse when the group arrives between 6 and 6:30 pm on Saturday, October 5. Heroes to be honored in this ceremony include SFC Victor Anderson, SGT Jonathan Battle, SPC Jacques Brunson, and Sgt Ward Johnson. The community is welcome to attend and show their support. Afterwards the runners will be treated to a meal at Ellaville Baptist Church.
