Area citizens passed the Regional Transportation Referendum for the River Valley Region way back in 2012. It added a one percent sales tax with funds designated for transportation related projects in the region's 16 counties. A ton of planning and preliminary moves have been made since then, but only one project has been completed inside The Journal's coverage area. But that will change in the near future.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation's TIA website, the only completed project inside Chattahoochee, Marion, Schley, Stewart, or Webster County is the resurfacing of Hospital Road from US Highway 280 to Sundown Road in Stewart County.
