BV and Marion to Consolidate Recreation Programs

It appears that a decades long effort to consolidate recreation in Buena Vista and Marion County is finally coming to fruition.
Buena Vista Mayor Kevin Brown appeared before the Marion County Commission in a special called meeting on May 28 to propose that the county government consider combining the two recreation departments and operating them as one - with the county government in control of operations.
The mayor noted that the City of Buena Vista has been offering youth football, basketball, and cheerleading for more than two decades now, while adding soccer and a wide range of summer camps in more recent years.
