Forestry is huge in Georgia. According to the Georgia Forestry Association, the state leads the nation in volume of timber harvested and exports 21 forestry related commodities with an estimated trade value of $3.9 billion. Our area is a big part of that, which is one of the reasons R.T. Lumpkin started the Annual Forestry & Wildlife Expo at Marion County Middle-High School four years ago.
Last year's event drew a whopping 456 visitors. This year's event is coming soon. It will be held (rain or shine) on Saturday, September 13 from 9 am to 1 pm at Marion County High School.
