A fire in a restroom caused Chattahoochee County Middle-High School to evacuate the building and end school early last Friday.
The fire was contained and did not spread, but there was enough smoke to prompt school officials to follow the fire safety plan and evacuate all faculty and staff from the building.
"The fire department was called due to excessive smoke in the restroom area, making it impossible to see the fire," said Superintendent Kimothy Hadley. "One restroom stall was damaged during the fire. Additionally, the hallway and restroom walls outside have soot that needs to be cleaned. About four classrooms next to the fire area also had soot on the walls."
