The Buena Vista City Council recently passed an unexpected water/sewer rate decrease, after having alerted the public previously that rates were expected to go up several times over the next year or so. Apparently, the engineering firm that came up with that original schedule of rate hikes made a mistake, according to the Georgia Rural Water Authority, which recommended new/lower rates.
The Council adopted the new rates, which are lower, during its recent monthly meeting.
Now, for customers who use 1,000 gallons of water per month, the cost is $11.68 for water and $26.55 for sewer (total of $38.23). That is down from $13.68 for water and $30.90 for sewer (total of $44.58). That's around a 14% decrease, which customers should be thrilled about since they've been expe...
