Wildcats Win Wild State Playoff Series

The Schley County High Wildcats beat a strong Wilcox County team in a thrilling best-of-three series last week in the Quarterfinals (Elite 8) of the Class A Division II State Baseball Playoffs. As this week's newspaper was going to press late Tuesday, May 16, the Cats were in the early innings of their Semifinal (Final 4) match-up with the Emanuel County Institute (ECI) Bulldogs (schedule - double-header on Tuesday at 4 and 6:30 pm; if necessary game on Wednesday at 3 pm).
The Wildcats and Bulldogs have had very similar seasons thus far. The Cats are 27-9 and Region 6 champs, while the Dogs are 28-8 and Region 3 champs.
