Stewart County High School senior Chavondria Crimes raced into the record book by becoming the school's first athletic state champion last week at the Class A Division II Track & Field State Championship held at Kinnett Stadium in Columbus.
Crimes won the 100 meter dash state title with a blazing fast time of 12.47 seconds. She earned 10 points for the victory. Crimes had placed second in the preliminary round, but after advancing to the final race, she turned on the after-burners to finish just ahead of runner-up Zariyona Williams of Miller County.
However, she wasn't done yet, as she also placed fifth in the 200 meter dash (26.87, 4 points)
