A bomb scare at a local store led to a high-speed chase and an armed stand-off last week in Marion County. Luckily, no shots were fired and deputies arrested the suspect on multiple charges after a tense encounter.
According to the incident report, the Marion County Sheriff's Office received a call on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 4 in reference to a potential bomb at the Oakland IGA located at 5419 Georgia Highway 41 North.
When Sergeant Mamie Sanders and Chief Deputy Benji Strange arrived at the store, they found a red inflated balloon tied to the display of propane tanks in the front of the store.
