An investigation into a forced entry and burglary in Marion County led to the arrest of a local resident who was also arrested in a separate incident in which he allegedly attempted to outrun officers – first in a vehicle and then on foot.
That incident was on July 27, when Sheriff Derrell Neals says a deputy noticed that Allen Leonard Rowland, 50, of Buena Vista was driving without his seatbelt on. The deputy also recognized Rowland as a suspect in a recent burglary.
However, when he activated his blue lights, Rowland reportedly began to speed up in an attempt to elude the officer. Two more officers joined in the chase of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup before he was captured.
