The Georgia Run for the Fallen will be passing through our area the first weekend of October. This 164-mile tribute run honors all of the Georgians who have died while serving in the military since the "War on Terror" era began.
The runners will begin in Milledgeville on Friday, October 6 and will conclude at the National Infantry Center at Fort Moore on Sunday, October 8. Along the 164-mile route, the runners (accompanied by the Patriot Guard Riders motorcycle group) will stop roughly every mile at special hero markers. At each stop, they will read the names of fallen servicemen and women in a brief ceremony. Families of the fallen are welcome at the stops.
