The City of Lumpkin has been awarded $34,150 in a combination grant/loan through the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Rural Development Community Facilities Direct Loans and Grants Program.
The funds will be used to purchase communications equipment for the seven patrol vehicles used by the Lumpkin City Law Enforcement Department. It will replace outdated equipment and will aid the department in quickly responding to emergencies.
The USDA award to the City of Lumpkin includes a loan of $15,400 and a grant of $18,750.
