At the November Schley County Commission meeting an Animal Control Ordinance was adopted. The ordinance provides for the restrictive control and regulation of animals.
It states that it is unlawful for any person to overload, cruelly treat, maim, bruise, deprive of necessary sustenance, ill use or in any manner whatsoever torture or abuse any animal. Also, dogs should not roam on property that does not belong to the owner of the animal.
A dog can be defined as a public nuisance animal if it is repeatedly found at large (this does not apply to cats), damages the property of others, has a propensity, tendency, or disposition to attack, bite, or injure humans or other animals without provocation, or overturns trash receptacles.
