The Marion County Commission is considering the possibility of joining the Lower Chattahoochee Transit Authority, which is a rural transportation group.
Marion County is one of the area counties eligible for the service, but not participating. Local governments that participate normally have to pay a fee, but the River Valley Regional Commission assists with applying for 5311 grants, which can greatly offset the cost.
According to the RVRC website about the program: "Like many rural parts of Georgia, the River Valley is sparse, and getting from places like home to work, or just to the grocery store can be difficult without reliable transportation.
