The Journal reported recently on the demise of Historic Westville, which was moved from the smalltown of Lumpkin to Columbus in an ill-fated venture around 10 years ago. The future of the regional historic homes and buildings there is still up in the air.
On a related note, that sad development has sparked renewed interest in the "Old Westville" - the portion of the historic village/museum that remains in Lumpkin.
According to "Keep Westville in Lumpkin (KWIL)" the property (and remaining buildings) of the original Westville site in Lumpkin can be purchased for $275,000. A couple has reportedly provided "earnest money" to give the group until March 16 to buy/save the property.
