The No. 2 ranked Schley County High Wildcats took another step in their quest for a state title Monday by winning both ends of a double-header to beat Towns County in the "Sweet 16" round of the State Playoffs.
With the win they improved to 25-3 and advanced to the quarterfinals (Elite 8). They will face either Baconton Charter (on the road) or Lanier County (at home) this Saturday. Those teams split on Monday and were playing their third game as this issue of the newspaper was going to the press.
"It's fixing to get difficult," said Head Coach Chuck Cheek. "We had a tough draw playing Towns County in the second round and now with only eight teams left, everybody is really good."
This year's Wildcat squad has picked up win-after-win and hopes to keep the go...
