The Journal was announced as the winner of four awards at the Georgia Press Association's 137th Annual Convention held on June 7 at the Jekyll Island Club.
Three of the awards were for photography, while one was for reporting.
Richard Harris' photo of an emotional moment in the October 18, 2023 issue won first place in the Feature Photo category. Taken at the dedication of a sign erected in memory of Anthony Bair, it showed his mother Malinda Bair hugging his sister Hannah Bair, as Jalia Rodriguez sat quietly in front of a memorial at the site.
