The northside of the Marion County Courthouse Lawn was packed with people, lawn chairs, tents, etc. for the City of Buena Vista's Juneteenth Celebration last Saturday.
The theme for this year's celebration was "Fathers, Family, & Jazz", as it fell on the same weekend as Father's Day. One special part of the event was a fundraiser for Buena Vista native and father Tommy Terry, who is fighting hard to recover from a recent accident. He was well-represented at the celebration and daughter Jazmine Terry said the family really appreciates the support.
Buena Vista Mayor Kevin Brown said it was nice to recognize fathers and how important they are.
"A lot of young men have issues and they need more positive male involvement and mentorship," said Brown.
