The entire Bible was read across the state last Sunday, July 14, with volunteers in each of the 159 counties reading designated sections as part of the Annual Statewide Bible Reading (which is part of a much larger effort to read the Scriptures across the country and much of the world).
The date and time of the event - July 14 at 7:14 - was symbolic, as they were inspired by II Chronicles 7:14, which states, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
