A toddler was rushed to the hospital in Columbus and then air-lifted to Atlanta recently due to an overdose after apparently eating illegal drugs in the home.
At the deadline for this week's newspaper, the 2-year-old child was still in the hospital. Both parents have been arrested and charged with cruelty to children, with additional charges possible.
Marion County Sheriff Derrell Neal said he received a call for a Talbot County investigator on the night of July 14. It was in reference to the toddler and a possible overdose of some type.
