Marion set to begin $2.17 Million Water System Project

 Work is expected to begin next week on a massive project to improve the Marion County Water System.
 The County Commission recently awarded the $2.17 million project to Whitfield Contractors, which is slated to begin on Monday, August 12 with 365 days to complete the work (although they hope to have the bulk of the work done in three months or so).
 What is the bulk of the work? Replacing all of the county's water meters.
 On the surface, that might not seem like a big improvement, but officials believe that the new water meters will help in a much more important way that simply recording how much water each customer uses.
