There's a spring in the step of the Schley County High Marching Band this year, as they are "Back in Black" under new Director Dakoda (Kody) Mincey, who has high hopes of not only helping them put on great shows but to also expanding their vision for the future.
Mincey earned a bachelor of science in education in May at the University of Alabama, where he was a member of the "Million Dollar Band" for four years and served as tenor saxophone section leader.
"I feel like my time in the Million Dollar Band taught me what marching bands are all about and what they can be," he said. "It's one of the largest bands in the country and I had the opportunity to learn about the daily operations and what it takes to make it work."
