School Safety Concerns Swirl in Marion County

 Knowledge of a recent fatal school shooting elsewhere in Georgia combined with a threatening post on social media that named area schools, as well as threats made elsewhere (including Brooks and Troup Counties), and even an arrest at a school with an identical name of a local school in another state, all combined to form a "Perfect Storm" of anxiety and fear that led many Marion County parents to either keep their kids home or check them out early from school on Monday, September 9.
 The school day proceeded without incident, other than heightened security and the absence of some students. A statement was also sent out to parents but that did not quell all of the concerns.
 The scare apparently began with the discovery and sharing of a threatening post on social media...
