The Marion County Commission has announced its intention to increase the 2024 property taxes it will levy this year by 1.18% over the rollback millage rate in the unincorporated area and 1.99% in the incorporated area of the county.
The proposed millage (tax) rates are actually very close to last year's rate, as they represent modest increases of 0.05 (from 6.808 to 6.858 in the unincorporated are) and 0.14 (from 8.953 to 9.0934 in the incorporated area).
The new rates are actually anticipated to generate a tad less ($384) in total taxes - from $1,524,620 down to $1,524,236, or a decrease of 0.03%.
