The Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta-Chattahoochee County presented a proclamation to family members of a longtime local leader, elected officers for 2025, made an appointment, approved a raise for the county attorney, and conducted various other items of business during the recent meeting.
Former County Commissioner James Edward "Jimmy" Lawrence passed away December 5, 2024 and the current commissioners adopted a proclamation to honor and commend his service to the community.
Mr. Lawrence served as a county commissioner twice for a total of nine years, from 2009 to 2012 and again from 2013 to 2019. He had previously served as an assessor for the Chattahoochee County Board of Assessors. The proclamation describes him as a longtime resident "whose dedi...
