Winter Storm Enzo blanketed our region of South Georgia with snow last week. It didn't match the famous "Blizzard of 1973" that older longtime residents still recall, but it was the most significant "snowstorm" to hit the area in well over a decade.
The storm did bring some challenges, including automobile accidents, but for the most part area residents seemed to take it in stride. Ellaville was able to act as a "Good Samaritan" by housing stranded travelers in its new Community Center. Most locals seemed to enjoy the rare presence of a Southern Winter Wonderland. We are unsure of "official" totals, but residents in the area reported estimates of between five and eight inches of snow.
