The Buena Vista City Council approved a significant salary increase for the mayor, elected a mayor pro-tem and vice mayor pro-tem for 2025, approved qualifying fees for the next election, and conducted other business during its recent monthly meeting, which was split between Tuesday, January 7 and Wednesday, January 8 to allow city officials to attend the local high school basketball game.
Members of the City Council who were present at the January 8 portion of the meeting approved an increase in the salary of Mayor Kevin Brown from $700 per month ($8,400 per year) to $1,250 per month ($15,000 per year). That is an increase of approximately 78.5%.
Also during the meeting, city officials elected Councilor Cal Myers to remain as Mayor Pro-Tem for 2025. They...
