There are walking sticks and then there are power bars. James E. Gooding, Jr. of Buena Vista has slowly turned his walking stick/power bar into a work of art.
Gooding, as a regular walker in a small town with virtually no animal control, originally began carrying a wooden stake in case he needed it for safety.
As he walked more and more, he noticed attractive trinkets - like key chains and bracelets - lying on the ground. He began picking them up and adding them to his walking stick.
The Journal featured a photo of Gooding and his stick on a local sidewalk back in August of 2020. It was already decorative. Now, almost five years later, it is truly a work of art.
