Eagles See Comeback Fall Just Short

 The Marion County High football team put up a valiant effort but fell in the season-opener to the Hawkinsville Red Devils, who have developed a habit of stealing close games away from the Eagles.
 The Eagles fought back from a 15-3 deficit and took the lead, 18-15, with just over 3 minutes left in the game. However, Hawkinsville struck back with a quick TD drive to reclaim the lead at 22-18.
 Then, with time slipping away, the Eagles tried to take to the air but a "Pick 6" made the final score (28-18) seem more lopsided than the game actually was.
 "I'm proud of how our kids played from start-to-finish," said Head Coach Jeff Collins. "They didn't give up when we were down and we had a chance to win the game."
