Buena Vista Police Chief Wendell Faulk has launched a new Reserve Officer Program. These officers are fully trained and will primarily provide extra personnel for emergencies and assist with crowd control during large public events.
They can also be called upon to help during disasters and provide backup to other officers as needed.
"Leveraging expertise gained at other agencies, reservists will be deployed across a wide range of fields, from road patrol to criminal investigations and narcotics," said Chief Faulk. "On patrol, they can operate either solo or in two-person crews in areas with higher crime rates. A key part of their role will also be to boost the police presence throughout the city."
