The City of Buena Vista was recently awarded $306,000 of federal funding for new police cars and equipment.
Rather than being from a grant, the money is earmarked in the bipartisan appropriations bill, H.R. 6938, for Fiscal Year 2026, which funds the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Department of Energy, as well as related federal science, energy, and environmental programs.
Longtime U.S. Representative Sanford Bishop, D, District 2, secured the funding for Buena Vista, as well as $14 million total for nine projects in Middle and Southwest Georgia.
