A few years ago, if you predicted where the next big economic development project would be in this region, you probably didn't pick the rural Mauk area. If you were predicting the location of the course Golf Digest would name as the Best New Private Course on the planet, you'd probably be 0-for-2.
However, the area that the magazine describes as "as rural as it gets in the Southeast" is the place where both of those things have happened. The Fall Line Club's East Course, located on Henry Currington Road in Taylor County, just north of Marion County, is in fact the Best New Private Course.
There isn't a lot of publicly available information on the club and that's by design. It is for the enjoyment of its members and not open to the public.
