The Buena Vista City Council hopes to get federal funding for a major water system improvement project. In its recent meeting the Council voted to apply for a $1 million grant from the US Department of Community Affairs.
If approved, the funds would likely be used to tie a brand new water main line into the system from Highway 41 South to Bridges Street and then on to Minter Avenue, across to the Old Walker Williams Ponds Area, and on to Ponderosa Road. That would essentially create a new water main the loops the water system together. It would improve water pressure for many water customers and have other benefits - including simply having a new line less likely to experience breaks.
