Farming the Natural Way in Schley County

 Latisha Springer has returned to her roots in Schley County to build Uhuru Farms with the intent of offering the best heirloom and heritage fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers to the community.
 She believes in the philosophies of permaculture and regenerative agriculture which work with, rather than against nature, to minimize environmental impact and restore ecosystems. This involves replicating natural processes and patterns.
 For example, rather than tilling the soil, Farmer Latisha just loosens it with a broadfork hand tool. She uses only organic practices, which means that she uses no harmful chemicals. She doesn't irrigate and instead maintains a thick layer of natural mulch to retain moisture around her plants and trees.
