The Schley County High varsity baseball team had a busy and productive week, going 3-1 to improve to 18-7 overall and 7-1 in Region 6.
More importantly, they clinched the Region 6 Championship, edging out Taylor County (6-2 region record).
"It's great to be back on top of the region," said Head Coach Chuck Cheek. "That's not our end goal, but it's absolutely a step in where we are trying to go. We had to dig deep to pull it off and I was very proud of our guys. I felt like the team got better throughout the year. We need to be more consistent, but I think we are getting to where we need to be starting a playoff run."
The Wildcats, who are ranked No. 5 in the state, will host at least the first round of the state playoffs - but it won't be easy, even though...
