The Marion County Commission agreed last week to re-advertise the County Manager position after their first two choices wound up turning down the job.
It appears that a better offer and timing were the culprits, rather than the candidates deciding the job wasn't attractive.
After being offered the Marion County Manager position, Meriwether County Administrator John Gordon submitted a letter of intent to leave to the Meriwether County Commission, which then reportedly made him a better offer to stay, which he accepted.
The Marion County Commission also offered the job to Sedrick Swann. However, during the time in between when he applied for the position and when it was offered, he accepted a different position elsewhere.
