Powell Honored as Top Georgia Peanut Producer

 For more than five decades, Gary Powell has relied on hard work, a keen eye for the land, and a whole lot of faith to build a life in agriculture. This year, that lifelong commitment earned the 67-year-old Marion County farmer a prestigious milestone: his first selection as one of Georgia's top-yielding peanut producers.
 Powell was formally recognized as the District 1 winner in the 300 to 699-acre category by the University of Georgia Peanut Team during the Georgia Peanut Achievement Club awards dinner in Tifton. Nominated by Marion County Extension Agent Braxton Crew, Powell produced an impressive 4,156 pounds of peanuts per acre during the 2025 season.
